Before your tiny vampires and princesses head out, remember: kids under 10 should never cross streets alone. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, most young children don’t yet have the judgment needed to navigate traffic safely.

If your trick-or-treat route takes you somewhere without sidewalks, make sure you’re walking on the left side of the road, facing traffic. That way, you see what's coming — and they see you!

🔦 Carry a flashlight pointed down and forward to light your path and signal your presence. Bonus: it helps spot uneven sidewalks and stray candy wrappers.

🔥 4. Fire-Safe Frights

That flickering jack-o’-lantern may look festive, but it can also be a fire hazard — especially near capes, costumes, or crowded porch steps.

👻 Safety checklist:

• Choose flame-retardant costumes
• Skip real candles and opt for LED tea lights in pumpkins
• Teach kids the “Stop, Drop, and Roll” trick (even if they’re dressed as a dragon!)

But beware—some of these beliefs are nothing more than zombie myths that just won't die.

Falling for these fables can come back to bite you—right in your bank account. So, grab your garlic, light a candle, and keep reading for several real estate myths that are more trick than treat:

👻 1. "Set Your Price Higher to Leave “Wiggle Room”

Overpricing your home might seem like a sneaky strategy, but it could send buyers running like they've seen a ghost.

And if your home sits too long on the market, it begins to look... cursed. 👀 So don’t scare them off. Start with a realistic price, or you might be haunting your own sale.

🧛 2. “Interest Rates Are Too Terrifying — No One’s Buying Now”

Yes, mortgage rates are higher than the “ultra‑low” pandemic years, but buyers haven’t disappeared — they’ve become more strategic.

Many serious buyers are still in the market, especially those willing to compromise on size, location, or features.

Though the tradition paused during hard times, it roared back to life in 1954 thanks to the Montgomery Kiwanis Club and the newly built Garrett Coliseum. With just $500 and a bold vision, they launched what would become a beloved October tradition.
