Old Cloverdale Christmas Celebration

by The Hat Team

The Old Cloverdale Christmas Celebration is a joint effort of Sandra Nickel, REALTORS and the Cloverdale Business Coalition, Old Cloverdale Christmas has been an annual tradition since 1999. Midtowners are invited to enjoy a free family-friendly movie at the historic Capri theatre, visit with Santa and whatever help he has with him, enjoy free refreshments and exceptional buys on unique gifts.

Also this year, attendees brought food for the Montgomery Area Food Bank and had the opportunity to adopt a kitten or puppy from local animal shelters. One puppy and one kitten found a new home, nearly 100 adults and children enjoyed seeing "Hans Christian Andersen."

The 2006 event saw beautiful weather--a real blessing since Joy Love Bubble the Christmas Fairy joined Santa to enchant all comers and help them to appreciate the true meaning of Christmas: love and giving. A "new favorite feature" is our gingerbread house decorating contest! Cafe Louisa sells the kits; and entrants can either buy and use a kit or do their own thing. A good time was had by all!

Retail Development Booms In Montgomery

by The Hat Team

Retail development is booming in Montgomery and central Alabama. Building permits for Wal-mart, Target, and Bass Pro Shops, to name a few are in billions of dollars. Two medical center projects are also in the works – a $2.5 million building permit for the Montgomery Cancer Center and a $2.7 million building permit for the 21,000-plus square-foot Montgomery Cardiovascular facility.

Where there is building going on, there are jobs created and job creation causes home sales to increase. All good news for Montgomery residents!

Dove Tree Campaign Aids Cancer Group

by The Hat Team

The Montgomery Cancer Wellness Foundation is asking the public to pay tribute to cancer patients, caregivers and those that have lost their battle with the disease.

The Montgomery Cancer Center at 4145 Carmichael Road is taking donations for the commemorative Dove Tree. A minimum donation to the foundation of $5 allows donors to place a dove on the tree in honor or memory of that special someone.

Proceeds from the Dove Tree will benefit the Montgomery Cancer Wellness Foundation. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps cancer patients obtain necessary at-home medication they often cannot afford, assists with transportation to and from cancer treatments, and offers educational programs for cancer patients, their families, and the general public.
